Liverpools leading pain free dental and cosmetic practice

Our Formby cosmetic dentist explains the difference in these procedures.

To help some patients who are interested in our facial aesthetic treatments but who may be unclear about what each different treatment can be used for; our experienced practitioner explains:

Q. Hi … I’ve started to notice a few lines and wrinkles appearing on my face, I feel they are beginning to make me look a little older. These are generally lines around the eyes and the corner of my mouth. I think my lips are also starting to thin just a little but I’m not sure if I need to do anything about those or not right now. Can you explain whether anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers would be the best treatment for me please as I’m a little confused about what each of these does?

A. Hi, and thanks for your question. You are not the first patient to be confused about these treatments. Whilst most patients have heard of anit-wrinkle injections, they are usually less aware of the role that dermal fillers play in creating a younger looking skin.

Our Azure Dental facial aesthetics team will be pleased to see you to discuss the most appropriate treatments for your needs, but, from your description, it would appear that anti-wrinkle treatment is the more likely option for you. This treatment is highly effective when treating ‘crow’s feet’ which are the wrinkles in the corners of the eyes. Anit-wrinkle injections work by blocking nerve signals to the muscles preventing them from working fully, thus allowing the wrinkles to relax and become smoother. Performed by a qualified practitioner, like those at Azure Dental, this procedure can help to make you look younger in a short period of time.

You also mention the problem of thinning lips- dermal fillers would be the treatment used for this. These injections replace the natural collagen in your skin; which has become lost over the years, returning your lips to a fuller appearance.

Both of these treatments are administered through a very fine needle just under the surface of the skin. A little light bruising may occur immediately after the treatment, but will disappear soon after. Here at our Liverpool practice, we are aware of the importance of these procedures for those who wish to have them. Azure Dental has an experienced facial aesthetics team to ensure that you receive expert advice and care when you come to see us.

What our happy customers say

Implants are a very predictable treatment option. They have good long term success rates but require regular care and maintenance to ensure they remain healthy for as long as possible.

Implants are generally placed under local anaesthetic. Once numb treatment is carried out with the very minimum of discomfort.

No, your dentist will show you how to clean any hard to reach areas around the implant. But you’ll mostly clean them as you would your normal teeth.

Dental implants are designed to provide a long term solution to your gap(s). They require less frequent replacement than other solutions such as dentures or bridgework, making them an overall cost-effective solution to replace a missing tooth (teeth).
